Fire!! landfill site at Samut Prakran City.

On 16 March 2014 Fire landfill site at Phraeksa sub-province where located at Samut Prakran City with area about 150 rai ( 0.24 km3) around 30 hours for can control fire. This event have much toxic fumes and smut covered very large area and affect to villagers over 1480 households was evacuated to safe area.

There for, Pollution Control Department of Thailand (PCD) was measured CO2 and SO2 on 3 point that is about 200 meters, 500 meters and 1 kilometer away from scene.

At 200 meters, the CO2 concentration is 175 ppm which is about 6 times higher concentration standards. This concentration if more inhaled, will be dizzy, rapid heart rate, unconsciousness and can death. Furthermore, they also found VOC substances and Dioxins, Furans which are carcinogenic in this smog.

At 500 meters, the SO2 concentration is 5-8 ppm and at 1 km is 2-4 ppm those are higher Acute Exposure Guideline level(AEGL-2)* concentration that have limit of 0.75 ppm which people will be severe irritation to the respiratory system.

Later, alert the public in 1.5 km away from scene to avoid exposure to chemicals in the atmosphere such as evacuation of area, wearing protective mask or using a towel dampened with water instead a mask.
